Those who travel very slowly may yet make far greater progress, provided they keep always to the straight road, than those who, while they run, forsake it.
Rene Descartes, Discourse on the Method

    SphereFlakes nostalgia

    23rd February 2007

I was digging some hd-backups and I found these two SphereFlakes designed during the 2005.
LightWave nostalgia is surrounding all around me! ;)

Click on them for the full-res view.

The LW’s SphereFlake plugin, by Aurora, is available here:
    SphereFlake.zip (Right Click Save As)

    Instructions:
Basically its a modeler plugin so unzip and add the SphereFlake.p into Modeler like any other plugin.
When you run SphereFlake you will get a modal panel with 2 controls.

Recursion Level – This first control is for controling the degree of recursion. The higher the degree the more levels of spheres that will be created. Careful with this for each new level you will add 9 new spheres for each sphere created from the previous level.

Tesselation Level – This is the tesselation control for the spheres themselves. I use tesselated spheres becuase they use fewer polys to create decent spheres. Although I may change this in a future version to allow you to decide what type of sphere you want to create.

Well thats about it. Like I mentioned above I will be adding alittle more to this plugin so if there is something you’d like to see added let me know and if its not extreme I’ll probably add it in. Again since this is something thats fun to play with but really has no inherent value I can think of I won’t be spending oodles of time on it, afterall I have to get the attractor plugin done.

Back to the double swirls; this one is a directional one due to the interaction of sinusoidal and spherical variations.
